Design team appointed for the Goodsyard

Hammerson and The Ballymore Group, have appointed a professional team to bring forward the development proposals for The Goodsyard, London.

The Goodsyard is one of the biggest regeneration development opportunities in London. Located in Shoreditch and minutes from the heart of the City, the 10 acre site will deliver a landmark mixed-use development, in accordance with the design principles of the adopted Interim Planning Guidance(IPG).

The IPG has been adopted by the London Boroughs of Tower Hamlets and Hackney, and endorsed by the Mayor of London. Under the IPG, The Goodsyard has the potential to deliver up to 2,000 new homes, retail and leisure space with substantial new public realm and a new park.

The Goodsyard has the opportunity to create a new neighbourhood which will benefit from opening of Shoreditch Station on the East London Line Station which is within the site, and will complement the Tech area to the North.

Farrell’s, who delivered the IPG masterplan will continue in a masterplanning role with PLP Architecture appointed to design the first stage of the residential provision and FaulknerBrowns Architects responsible for the retail element of the scheme, which will retain the listed Braithwaite arches and provide over 200,000sq ft. of retail space.

Over the next 12 months the professional team will commence design work on the scheme with pre application consultation due to start this month and the planning application expected to be submitted towards the end of 2013.

The professional team will also comprise DP9, WSP, Gardiner & Theobald, Hoare Lea, Chris Dyson Architects, Peter Stewart Consultancy, Turner & Townsend, Second London Wall, Miller Hare, URS, GIA, FTI Consulting and Soundings.
